First Eucharist

First Eucharist is also known as First Holy Communion. The word ‘Eucharist’ is from a Greek word meaning ‘thanksgiving’ and the word ‘communion’ means to be ‘united with’. In the Catholic tradition we regularly come together for the celebration of the Eucharist. It is not a private devotion but rather a communal gathering much like a family meal.
Preparation is usually completed as part of the Parish school curriculum.

Please note that for Grade 3 (or above) children who do not attend one of our parish schools, the First Eucharist Program will be offered in 2024. In preparation this year, it is expected that children attend the Introductory Catechesis (Pre-Sacramental Program) which will take place on Saturdays at 5pm on 6, 13, 20, 27 May 2023 to then receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation later in the year.

Enrolments in the Introductory Program will open on Wednesday 22 February 2023. Please check back here or contact the Parish Office at that time to obtain an Enrolment form.
