First Eucharist

First Eucharist is also known as First Holy Communion. The word ‘Eucharist’ is from a Greek word meaning ‘thanksgiving’ and the word ‘communion’ means to be ‘united with’. In the Catholic tradition we regularly come together for the celebration of the Eucharist. It is not a private devotion but rather a communal gathering much like a family meal.
Preparation is usually completed as part of the Parish school curriculum.

For Grade 3 (or above) children who do not attend one of our parish schools, the First Eucharist Program will be offered in 2026. Catechesis to prepare will occur over the four weeks prior to First Eucharist.

Please check back towards the end of 2025 for more information about the 2026 Program.
